Anaesthetist

Joseph Clover completed his medical training just as anaesthesia was discovered. He originally trained as a surgeon but eventually devoted his career to anaesthesia, whilst retaining a keen interest in surgical and dental issues. He lent his inventive mind to new techniques and developed many pieces of equipment. His careful attention to detail and kindness to patients made him popular with surgeons and patients; he also made important contributions on a number of committees. He held appointments at University College Hospital (UCH), the Westminster Hospital and the Dental Hospital, and was appointed lecturer in anaesthesia to UCH, There are many aspects to his anaesthetic career, some of which can be discovered by clicking on the links below.
